Depression can seriously affect eating habits, which can lead to various disorders of the gastrointestinal tract. The goal of this study is to assess dietary habits and levels of depression in Faculty of Medicine students with gastrointestinal symptoms. Materials and methods. An anonymous survey of 100 students was conducted by filling out online questionnairesHospital scale of anxiety and depression, Manual CINDI among students of 2-4 courses of the NSMU Faculty of Medicine. The study included 74% (n = 74) of girls and 26% (n = 26) of boys aged 19 to 24, with an average age of 20.33 ( 0.93) years. Results. Signs of depression were detected in 18% of medical students (subclinical/clinically pronounced depression), which is comparable to the literature. Clinically pronounced depression increases the chances of having a belching symptom( p = 0.022), constipation (p = 0,026). Conclusions. The results of the study show that depression plays an important role in the development of gastrointestinal symptoms. &lt;/em&gt;&lt;/p&gt;
<kwd-group xml:lang="en"><kwd>depression</kwd><kwd>students</kwd><kwd>food habits</kwd><kwd>gastrointestinal symptoms Gastrointestinal tract</kwd><kwd>health</kwd></kwd-group><kwd-group xml:lang="ru"><kwd>депрессия</kwd><kwd>студенты</kwd><kwd>пищевые привычки</kwd><kwd>гастроинтестинальные симптомы</kwd><kwd>ЖКТ</kwd><kwd>здоровье</kwd></kwd-group></article-meta></front><body></body><back><ref-list><ref id="B1"><label>1.</label><mixed-citation>Оценка роли тревоги и депрессии в формировании диетических предпочтений среди студентов (по данным опроса).
