Relationship between mental stability of adolescents and their social media engagement is a subject of thorough research. The objective of this research is to analyze and summarize the recent studies which investigate whether social media has an influence on the mental well-being of teenagers.

Methods. In the research were used methods of contextual and descriptive analysis. Materials were gathered from multiple sources such as International Journal of Adolescence and Youth, Frontiers in psychiatry, Journal of clinical psychology.

Results. Our review has demonstrated that there are 3 major issues in relation to the topic, i.e. depression, eating disorders and cyberbullying. The depression was categorized in 4 major groups: time spent, form activity, investment and addiction. Most findings on eating disorders indicate that psychological problems in teenagers are often caused by the discrepancy between their self image and media standards of eating patterns. The key result of cyberbullying studies proves that any victim of bullying suffer long-term consequences resulting in multiple mental disorders.

Conclusion. Our review has shown that social media has significant impact on teenage mental health, though this problem still needs further research.
<kwd-group xml:lang="en"><kwd>mental health</kwd><kwd>social media</kwd><kwd>youth</kwd><kwd>depression</kwd><kwd>eating disorders</kwd><kwd>cyberbullying</kwd></kwd-group><kwd-group xml:lang="ru"><kwd>ментальное здоровье</kwd><kwd>социальные сети</kwd><kwd>молодежь</kwd><kwd>депрессия</kwd><kwd>расстройства пищевого поведения</kwd><kwd>кибербуллинг</kwd></kwd-group></article-meta></front>

<back><ref-list><ref id="B1">1.<mixed-citation>Office of the Surgeon General (OSG).
