The professional orientation of any person significantly determines his future, the ability to self-actualize, get satisfaction from work and the value of a person of working age for the state. Goal. This determines the purpose of the work to identify the features of the professional orientation of first-year students of the N.N. Burdenko VSMU. Materials and methods. The study involved first-year students of the pediatric, preventive medicine, dental and Pharmaceutical faculties of the N.N. Burdenko VSMU. The identification of professional orientation was carried out on the basis of a differential diagnostic questionnaire. Results. The results obtained indicate that the professional orientation of first-year students is carried out in accordance with the interests and inclinations of the respondents.This is a significant conclusion, indicating that every employee of the organization should be in his place and do the work for which he has the maximum predisposition. Conclusion. However, the interviewees do not see their professional orientation related to calculations, measurements, presentation and processing of the received data. This contradicts the scientific side of any activity and is a disadvantage of modern school education in Russia.
<kwd-group xml:lang="en"><kwd>professional orientation</kwd><kwd>differential diagnostic questionnaire</kwd><kwd>scales of professional orientation</kwd></kwd-group><kwd-group xml:lang="ru"><kwd>профессиональная ориентация</kwd><kwd>дифференциально-диагностический опросник</kwd><kwd>шкалы профессиональной ориентации</kwd></kwd-group></article-meta></front>

Relevance The professional orientation of any person uniquely determines his personnel potential. Any organization is interested in personnel capable of developing, increasing their professionalism and skills. The best employee will be a person engaged in an activity that does not contradict his interests and inclinations, requires skills and abilities that meet his nervous and mental organization. Purpose of the work In accordance with this, the identification of the features of the professional orientation of first-year students of N.N. Burdenko VSMU seems to be an urgent task.

Materials and methods
Professional orientation was assessed using a differential diagnostic questionnaire. In accordance with this methodology, students were offered 20 pairs of compared activities and from each pair they were required to choose the type of activity that, in the opinion of the interviewee, was more interesting to engage in[1].
According to the presented methodology, twenty first-year students of the pediatric, dental, preventive medicine and pharmaceutical faculties were interviewed.
Processing and interpretation of the results was carried out by calculating the coincidence of the respondents' answers with the key. At the same time, the following scales were distinguished and evaluated: "Man-nature", "Man-technique", "Man-man", "Man-sign" and "Man-artistic image".In accordance with the "Man-Nature" school, the interviewed students preferred interaction with animals and plants. They were interested in caring for and treating the selected objects.
The "Man-technique" scale assumes a person's interest in interacting with devices, machines and mechanisms. The design, maintenance and management of these systems comes to the fore.
According to the Human-to-Human scale, the respondents showed more interest in interacting with people during their professional activities. Such aspects of interaction as assistance and treatment, training, dispute resolution and quarrels were highlighted.
According to the Human-Sign scale, the subject is more focused on interacting with diagrams, tables and calculations in his professional activity.
The scale "Man-artistic image" highlights the artistic orientation of a person's preferred activity. His interest in painting, acting, or creating works of art.In accordance with the presented scales, the doctor's activity is more characterized by such as "Man-nature" and "Man-man".
The orientation of the respondents to the defined type of activity was determined by the number of points scored as a result of matching the students' answers with the key. Thus, in accordance with their professional preferences on each scale, the interviewee scored a certain number of points from zero (lack of interest) to 8 (maximum interest).
The data collected as a result of the survey of students were presented in the form of a statistical variation series, where the possible number of points scored was represented by variants (random variables): 0,1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8. The probability of scoring each of the selected points values was determined by the number of people from the respondents who scored the specified number of points. For example, out of 20 students of the Faculty of Pharmacy on the scale of "Man-nature", two scored 1 point; three-2 points; one-3 points; four-4 points;five-5 points; two-6 points; three-7 points and 8 points on this scale were not scored by any of the respondents.
Thus, for each scale of the five selected, 4 variation series were obtained in accordance with the number of faculties where the surveys were conducted. The level of professional orientation of students of various faculties was determined by the value of the mathematical expectation calculated on the basis of the data of the described variation series.

Results
The results calculated in the described way allow us to rank the scales under consideration for students of N.N. Burdenko VSMU as follows:
1) "Man man";
2) "Man nature";
3) "Man is an artistic image";
4) "Sign Man";
5) "Man technique".
That is, the results obtained correspond to the conclusions made when describing the scales, that for a medical worker, the focus on working with people, animals or plants should prevail, consisting in their treatment, conducting diagnostic studies and monitoring the condition of patients.

The third place is taken by the scale "Man is an artistic image", which indicates that modern students of the N.N. Burdenko VSMU are creative personalities. Of course, a creative approach is necessary in any activity. It will be the engine of progress, improvement and optimization of the activities of future specialists.
It is somewhat alarming that medical students put calculations and conclusions in the last place, on the one hand, and the operation of machinery and equipment on the other. This conclusion confirms the trend of modern education, which consists in the fact that specialized mathematics for applicants of medical universities in Russia is superfluous.
However, the scientific component is important for any activity and medicine in this case is no exception. Therefore, it seems completely unjustified that modern medical students assign the penultimate place to the ability to operate and present data, perform various calculations and analyze the results of various measurements.

Conclusion
Thus, modern students of N.N. Burdenko VSMU choose a profession that corresponds to their interests and inclinations, which will contribute to the gradual growth of their professionalism and demand in the labor market. However, they initially do not associate themselves with various measurements, experiments and calculations, which is extremely in demand in modern conditions. And this limitation in the field of mathematics and technology is laid down by the existing system of school education in Russia.

<back><ref-list><ref id="B1">1.<mixed-citation>Машков В.Н.
