The importance of a foreign language in medical professional and educational activities in this regard is undeniable. Medical terminology in a foreign language presents certain difficulties for students, since the language of medicine is insanely large and multifaceted. In each terminological system, along with terms created by means of the national language, there are various borrowings from other languages, in particular, medical terminology is represented by Greek-Latin borrowings.

The object of the work is to identify the etymological features of cardiac anatomical and clinical terms using the example of the English language.

The material for the study was medical terms in English from original articles of scientific medical journals and textbooks.
