It is known that in patients with diabetes mellitus, the damage to the upper respiratory tract is up to 50%, therefore, the relevance of this problem is not disputed.
Purpose: to analyze the composition and characteristics of the microflora from the tonsils in otorhinolaryngological patients with chronic tonsillitis and patients suffering from type II diabetes mellitus with chronic tonsillitis.
Materials and methods: a retrospective comparative analysis of the results of cultures for microflora (pharyngeal swabs) was carried out in patients with chronic tonsillitis and type II diabetes mellitus complicated by chronic tonsillitis. All patients were treated in the otorhinolaryngological and endocrinological departments of the BUZ VO VOKB No. 1. The sample consisted of 28 patients in each group (with and without diabetes).
Results: In otorhinolaryngological patients with chronic tonsillitis, mixed microflora (Staphyllococcus aureus, streptococci, Neisseria, etc.) was most often sown - 40.5%. Staphylococcus aureus was found in 22.1% of cases. And in patients with chronic tonsillitis complicated by type II diabetes mellitus in 12 (43%) patients, Staphyllococcus aureus was isolated in combination with saprophytic microflora (Streptococcus viridans, Streptococcus epidermidis, etc.). Four (14%) patients were diagnosed with Haemophillius influenzae. 3 (11%) patients had Klebsiella pneumoniae, 3 (11%) patients had Staphylococcus epidermidis, and 1 (4%) patient had Escherichia coli. In addition, Candida albicans were cultured in 5 (18%) patients.
Conclusion: Based on the study, it can be concluded that the microflora from the tonsils in patients with type II diabetes mellitus in chronic tonsillitis is the most aggressive, which indicates a decrease in immunological reactivity in these patients. In addition, the prevalence of Staphyllococcus aureus and its high antibiotic resistance are noteworthy. Antibiotic resistance has also been found in Escherichia coli and even in Staphylococcus epidermidis.
<kwd-group xml:lang="en"><kwd>Diabetes</kwd><kwd>chronic tonsillitis</kwd><kwd>microflora of the oropharynx</kwd><kwd>ENT diseases</kwd></kwd-group><kwd-group xml:lang="ru"><kwd>Сахарный диабет</kwd><kwd>хронический тонзиллит</kwd><kwd>микрофлора ротоглотки</kwd><kwd>ЛОР-болезни</kwd></kwd-group></article-meta></front>

<back><ref-list><ref id="B1">1.<mixed-citation>Дедов И.И., Шестакова М.В., Викулова О.К., Железнякова А.В., Исаков М.А.
