<p>This article is devoted to the life of a brilliant specialist Vladimir Alekseevich Porkhanov and his achievements, which has brought the Russian medicine to a new higher level. The article describes the stages of Vladimir Alekseevich formation as a doctor, his life path, from childhood to the present. Special attention is paid to his active scientific, educational and practical activities in the field of thoracic surgery. V.A. Porkhanov has made a huge contribution to the creation of new methods of treatment and diagnosis of chest diseases. Currently, he works as a chief physician and performs successful surgical operations at the Krasnodar Regional Clinical Hospital No. 1 named after Professor Ochapovsky. The information presented in the article is interesting to students of medical universities and anyone involved in the achievements of Russian medicine.</p>
