Among them were writers, artists, and professional medical workers. All of them made a special contribution to Russian culture, science and medicine. The art of healing, the ability to save lives greatly impressed the young Sergey Petrovich Botkin. He devoted himself to medicine, worked "40 hours a day," as he himself said, and no longer thought of doing anything else. Yevgeny Sergeyevich Botkin became the main successor of his father's business. Since childhood, he watched his father save lives, in huge queues outside the house. Eugene admired his father, his dedication to the cause. Sergey Petrovich was glad of his son's act: the children take an example from him. His sons Sergey and Alexander also became doctors. Having taken the Hippocratic oath, Evgeny, like Sergey Petrovich once, devoted himself entirely to medicine. Having worked at the Mariinsky Hospital for the Poor, and after that received an internship abroad, Evgeny returned to Russia as an experienced doctor. The Life of Sergei Petrovich and Evgeny Sergeyevich Botkin turned out to be similar in many ways, but not because the father forced his son to follow in his footsteps. The God-given talent of the son was revealed in its entirety thanks to the love and respect of the father for him.
dynastyBotkindoctorlife-medicдинастияБоткинврачлейб-медик
The Botkins are a famous dynasty of Russia. Among them were writers, artists and professional doctors. All of them made a special contribution to Russian culture and science. Botkins did not belong to medicine. A merchant family traded tea, his father owned a large tea company. Until the age of nine, Sergei could not read and write, no one was engaged in his education. The father wanted to send his son to the soldiers, but he was destined for a different fate. The boy loved to count letters in words, the future scientist learned numbers and oral counting from an early age. The art of healing, the ability to save lives greatly impressed the young Sergei Petrovich. He devoted himself to medicine, worked "40 hours a day," as he himself said, and no longer thought of doing another thing [1]. Yevgeny Sergeyevich Botkin became the main successor of his father's business. Since childhood, he watched his father save lives, in huge queues outside the house. Eugene admired his father, his dedication to the cause.Recently, Sergey Petrovich has been receiving patients less often he was appointed Alexander II's life physician. This took up all the time of the elderly Botkin, and he often had to refuse patients who wanted to get to him for an appointment. At such moments, Eugene wished with all his heart to help his father and those people who were forced to leave with nothing. Therefore, after graduating from the first year of university, Eugene made a fateful decision for himself. He passed the exams and transferred to the medical faculty.Sergey Petrovich was glad of his son's act: the children take an example from him. His sons Sergey and Alexander also became doctors. Having taken the Hippocratic oath, Evgeny, like Sergey Petrovich once, devoted himself entirely to medicine. Having worked at the Mariinsky Hospital for the Poor, and after that received an internship abroad, Evgeny returned to Russia as an experienced doctor [2].A few years later, the Russian-Japanese War broke out. Yevgeny, not indifferent to human lives, signed up as a volunteer and went to the frontHere the fate of his father repeats itself Botkin Sr. participated in the Crimean campaign and treated wounded soldiers. The doctor himself went to the front line more than once, replacing the wounded paramedic. His personal bravery was combined with his heartfelt faith.Yevgeny was horrified by the realities of the war, but he fulfilled his duty with honor. When he returned to St. Petersburg, he learned that he had been appointed the life physician of Nicholas II. Evgeny listened to the message with a smile: after all, his father held the same position, their destinies crossed again.Botkin Jr. did not yet know what a tragic turn in his fate this appointment would turn out to be. He diligently fulfilled his duties for nine years, earning the sincere respect of Nicholas II and his family. Yevgeny fell in love with the young princesses and Tsarevich Alexei as if they were his own children. Therefore, when the Romanovs were captured and exiled to Siberia, the life doctor Botkin went with them.E.S. Botkin was destined to become the last Russian life doctor. After the February revolution and the arrest of the royal family, the Provisional Government offered Botkin a choice to stay with his recently royal patients or leave them. The Bolsheviks later confronted him with the same choice.Yevgeny was shot together with the royal family, although the Bolsheviks offered him to leave. "I gave the tsar my word of honor to stay with him as long as he is alive," Eugene answered them, knowing that his father would have said the same thing in such a situation. After all, a real doctor never abandons patients. The lives of Sergei Petrovich and Evgeny Sergeyevich Botkin turned out to be similar in many ways, but not because the father forced his son to follow in his footsteps. The God-given talent of the son was revealed in its entirety thanks to the love and respect of the father for him.
[Н.А. Белоголовый. Сергей Петрович Боткин. Его жизнь и врачебная деятельность.
