PURPOSE OF THE STUDY Research causes, symptoms and treatment of withdrawal syndrome after reception of psychostimulants. RESEARCH METHODS Analysis of scientific and statistical data. FINDINGS This problem is relevant because of widespread use of these drugs in treatment of different diseases and disorders. Stimulants have been used in medicine for many conditions including obesity, sleep disorders, mood disorders, impulse control disorders, asthma, nasal congestion and as anesthetics. Drugs used to treat obesity are called anorectics. Drugs used to treat sleep disorders such as excessive daytime sleepiness are called eugeroics and include notable stimulants such as modafinil. Stimulants are used in impulse control disorders such as ADHD (dexamphetamine, methylphenidate) and off-label in mood disorders such as major depressive disorder to increase energy, focus and elevate mood (caffeine). Stimulants such as epinephrine, theophylline and salbutamol orally have been used to treat asthma, but inhaled adrenergic drugs are now preferred due to less systemic side effects. Pseudoephedrine is used to relieve nasal or nasal congestion caused by the common cold, sinusitis, hay fever and other respiratory allergies; it is also used to relieve ear congestion caused by ear inflammation or infection. So the main cause of addiction is intention to increase the activity (teenagers, students), eliminate physical fatigue (sportsmen), lose weight [1, 2, 3]. Signs of withdrawal syndrome are sudden depressed mood, sleep disorders, fatigue, impetuosity, sweeping movements, inability to tie a lace or button, sudden fluctuations in blood pressure, chills, heart rhythm disorders (arrhythmia), increased sweating. Because of constant use of psychostimulants, patients often look older, lose weight, have a cyanotic skin tone, widespread caries and atrophic processes in the oral cavity, also frequent incidence of angina (caused by fungi). The treatment consists of two stages. At the first stage we should accelerate the excretion of drugs from the body, stop withdrawal syndrome, assign diazepam and detoxification therapy. In case of sleeplessness, when the patient is unable to sleep despite extreme fatigue, we should prescribe Phenozepam. We can’t prescribe barbiturate sleeping pills because of the risk of addiction to several drugs. At the second stage doctors should work on preventing relapses with vitamins; drugs that feed the brain; psychotherapy [4, 5]. CONCLUSION There is a huge range of psychostimulants which cause side effects including addiction, the main part of this group are synthetic drugs, these drugs have different mechanisms of action, prescriptions for these drugs are strictly controlled, psychostimulants are strong drugs and they need doctor’s mindfulness and awareness.[Shikhova Yu.A., Berezhnova T.A., Kulintsova Ya.V.
