High-sensitivity C-reactive protein (hsCRP) is considered to reclassify CV risk. The Aim. To examine international literature data on the prognostic role of hsCRP concentrations in the development of CV events. Materials and Methods. The search for sources was performed in the PubMed Advanced search builder in English using the keywords "high sensitivity C-reactive protein", "hsCRP", "cardiovascular", "risk", "risk factor", "odds ratio", and "healthy" in the title/abstract. Results. Large prognostic studies of the population of the United States of America, Great Britain, China, Japan, and African countries have shown an increased risk of coronary heart disease, myocardial infarction, the total number of CV events, and CV mortality with elevated hsCRP concentrations, including for patients with arterial hypertension and type 2 diabetes mellitus. However, data on the prediction of stroke, especially hemorrhagic stroke, is controversial. No association was found in South Asia research participants. Odds ratios and confidence intervals vary. An increased CV risk is noted in men. However, there is data refuting the predictive ability of hsCRP in the context of the development of CV diseases. It is suggested that it is necessary to identify a target population group in which hsCRP improves CV risk prediction. Conclusions. There is a large body of data in the international literature demonstrating the significant contribution of hsCRP to CV risk prediction. However, there is still no consensus on the independent role of hsCRP as a CV risk factor. Analysis of the Russian population is of interest.&lt;/p&gt;
<kwd-group xml:lang="en"><kwd>hsCRP</kwd><kwd>high-sensitivity C-reactive protein</kwd><kwd>cardiovascular diseases</kwd><kwd>cardiovascular risk</kwd><kwd>prognosis</kwd><kwd>odds ratio</kwd></kwd-group><kwd-group xml:lang="ru"><kwd>вчСРБ</kwd><kwd>высокочувствительный С-реактивный белок</kwd><kwd>сердечно-сосудистые заболевания</kwd><kwd>сердечно-сосудистый риск</kwd><kwd>прогнозирование</kwd><kwd>отношение шансов</kwd></kwd-group></article-meta></front><body></body><back><ref-list><ref id="B1"><label>1.</label><mixed-citation>Olsen MH, Sehestedt T, Lyngbaek S, Hansen TW, Rasmussen S, Wachtell K, Torp-Pedersen C, Hildebrandt PR, Ibsen H.
