The increasing incidence against the backdrop of an aging population and a growing number of immunocompromised individuals necessitates the search for effective prevention strategies. Objective. To analyze the epidemiological situation regarding shingles in the Russian Federation and the Voronezh Region to substantiate the feasibility of including vaccination against VZV infection in the National Calendar of Preventive Vaccinations (NCPV). Materials and Methods. An analysis was conducted of data from the State Reports "On the State of Sanitary and Epidemiological Well-being of the Population" in the Russian Federation and the Voronezh Region for 2024, as well as a retrospective analysis of chickenpox incidence. Results. In 2024, 24,464 cases of HZ were registered in the Russian Federation (16.7 per 100,000 population). The incidence rate remains above the pre-pandemic level. In the age structure, individuals over 50 years old predominate. Three fatal outcomes were registered. In the Voronezh Region, separate recording of HZ was introduced recently, which does not allow for an assessment of the true burden of the infection. Conclusion. The increase in the incidence of HZ, the presence of severe outcomes, and the successful global experience in vaccine prevention are strong arguments for revising the NCPV to include vaccination against chickenpox (for children) and shingles (for adult risk groups).&lt;/p&gt;
<kwd-group xml:lang="en"><kwd>herpes zoster</kwd><kwd>chickenpox</kwd><kwd>vaccine prevention</kwd><kwd>national immunization schedule</kwd><kwd>morbidity</kwd></kwd-group><kwd-group xml:lang="ru"><kwd>опоясывающий лишай</kwd><kwd>ветряная оспа</kwd><kwd>вакцинопрофилактика</kwd><kwd>национальный календарь прививок</kwd><kwd>заболеваемость</kwd></kwd-group></article-meta></front><body></body><back><ref-list><ref id="B1"><label>1.</label><mixed-citation>Исаков В.
