Blood loss from injuries and surgical interventionsremainsthe leading cause of preventable mortality, especially in military conflicts and mass injuries. Local hemostatic agents are being actively introduced into practice both internationally and in Russia. Their advantage lies in their directional action, which makes it possible to effectively stop both massive and diffuse bleeding. Against the background of the development of tactical medicine, there is an increasing interest in local hemostatic agents that can quickly form a stable thrombus directlyin the area ofdamage to the vascular wall.The purpose of this review is to summarize data on the classification, mechanisms of action, and clinical efficacy of modern topicalhemostatics, including materials used in military firstaid kits.Materials and methods: domestic and foreign publications on collagen, cellulose, gelatin, chitosan-containing and kaolin compositions, as well as comparative studies in experiment and clinical practice, are analyzed.Results: special attention is paid to the use of hemostatic bandages at the prehospital stage for combat wounds, the effect of drugs on the survival of the wounded, the frequency of complications, the need for blood transfusions, and the duration of surgical interventions.Conclusions: practical conclusions are formulated to justify the rational choice of local hemostatic compositions for hospital and field conditions.
