The article presents the results of a study devoted to the assessment of the level of theoretical knowledge, practical skills of schoolchildren in the field of first aid.</p> <p>The goal is to identify existing gaps in the training system and analyze the factors affecting the effectiveness of skills acquisition within the curriculum of the basics of life safety course.</p> <p>Materials and methods: the study was carried out by means of a specially developed anonymous questionnaire with the subsequent processing of the data obtained. An analysis of the current federal state educational standards and curricula in the discipline "Fundamentals of Life Safety" was also carried out.</p> <p>Results of the study: the study showed that there is an insufficient level of knowledge and training in first aid among schoolchildren, especially in terms of practical application of knowledge.</p> <p>Conclusions. The conclusion concludes that a systematic and practical approach to training will overcome the existing gap between theory and real readiness to act.
