The main stages of evolution are considered: from the Middle Ages, when midwives delivered babies based on traditions, to the systematization of obstetrics in the XVIII-XXI centuries. Swedish physician Nils Rosn von Rosenstein played a key role in the development of obstetrics. His works, including "Instructions on Childhood Diseases" (1764), became an important contribution to medical science. In the 1970s, Sweden was one of the first countries to actively promote natural childbirth and father involvement in the delivery process. Today, Sweden is considered one of the countries with the lowest maternal and infant mortality rates in the world. This is due to the high level of medical care, the education of midwives and doctors, and the social support provided to pregnant women.</p>
