The importance of studying the reactivity of immunocompetent cells in this condition is due to the need to find effective methods of treatment and prevention. Objective. To study the effect of molecular hydrogen (H2) on the reactivity of immune cells in oral mucositis in an experiment. Materials and methods. Modeling of oral radiation mucositis was carried out at the Research Institute of Experimental biology and Medicine of the Voronezh State Medical University named after N.N. Burdenko with the participation of 30 sexually mature male Wistar rats. Then, for 14 days, the affected areas of the oral mucosa were irrigated with an aqueous solution of molecular hydrogen at a dose of 1 ppm. Histological micropreparations were made and stained with a further stage of morphometry. Results. A quantitative and qualitative assessment of some parameters of the inflammatory process of the mucous membrane was carried out using histochemistry and immunohistochemistry methods for the reactivity of mast cells and the features of macrophage plasticity. Conclusion. The study emphasizes the importance of further scientific research in the field of developing means for the prevention of oral mucositis. The data obtained confirm that molecular hydrogen can have a protective effect, minimizing the induction of an inflammatory response and improving the profile of the immune response. The prospects of using H2 as a therapeutic agent for the correction of the immune response in oral mucositis may be important for improving the quality of life of patients suffering from this condition.&lt;/p&gt;
<kwd-group xml:lang="en"><kwd>mucositis</kwd><kwd>oral mucosa</kwd><kwd>mast cells, macrophages, molecular hydrogen</kwd></kwd-group><kwd-group xml:lang="ru"><kwd>мукозит</kwd><kwd>слизистая оболочка полости рта</kwd><kwd>тучные клетки, макрофаги, молекулярной водород</kwd></kwd-group></article-meta></front><body></body><back><ref-list><ref id="B1"><label>1.</label><mixed-citation>Клинические рекомендации «Злокачественные новообразования полости рта», Ассоциация онкологов России, 2024.</mixed-citation></ref><ref id="B2"><label>2.</label><mixed-citation>Свидетельство о государственной регистрации базы данных № 2024620166 Российская Федерация.
