Despite this, the complex role of the stroma in chronic inflammatory diseases of the prostate, such as chronic prostatitis/chronic pelvic pain syndrome (CP/CPPS), is not fully understood. The relevance of the work is due to the increasing prevalence of CP/CPPS and the limited effective treatments, which requires a deeper understanding of the pathogenetic mechanisms underlying these diseases. This review systematizes current knowledge about the multicomponent contribution of stromal cells to the functioning of the prostate gland in normal conditions and in chronic inflammation, analyzes the interaction of stromal cells with various cell populations and signaling pathways, and also considers potential therapeutic targets for the development of new treatment strategies for CP/CPPS based on modulation of stromal cell activity&lt;/em&gt;.&lt;/p&gt;
<kwd-group xml:lang="en"><kwd>prostate gland</kwd><kwd>inflammation</kwd><kwd>stroma</kwd><kwd>mast cells</kwd></kwd-group><kwd-group xml:lang="ru"><kwd>предстательная железа</kwd><kwd>воспаление</kwd><kwd>строма</kwd><kwd>тучные клетки</kwd></kwd-group></article-meta></front><body></body><back><ref-list><ref id="B1"><label>1.</label><mixed-citation>1.
