Nordic walking as a moderate physical activity is of interest for correction of vegetative imbalance and increase of adaptive capabilities of the organism. Objective. To evaluate the influence of regular Nordic walking exercises on spectral indices of heart rate variability (HRV) in students of a medical university. Materials and methods. Twenty-one students of Voronezh State Medical University participated in the study. HRV parameters were analysed before and after a three-week course of Nordic walking using variation cardiointervalometry (apparatus PSYCHOPHYSIOLOG). Total wave power (TP), power of high-frequency (HF), low-frequency (LF) and very low-frequency (VLF) components, and LF/HF index were evaluated. Results. Students with baseline sympathicotonia showed a significant increase in TP and HF, indicating decreased sympathetic activity and increased parasympathetic regulation. In the group of sympathotonics, an increase in VLF was also recorded, reflecting an increase in metabolic influences. In normotonics and vagotonics the changes did not reach statistical significance, but demonstrated tendencies to improvement of adaptation reserves. Conclusion. Nordic walking has a positive effect on autonomic regulation of heart rhythm. The results confirm the feasibility of introducing this physical practice into students' health improvement programmes to reduce the effects of hypodynamia and stress, as well as to increase the functional reserves of the organism.&lt;/p&gt;
<kwd-group xml:lang="en"><kwd>heart rate variability</kwd><kwd>Nordic walking</kwd><kwd>spectral analysis</kwd><kwd>medical university students</kwd><kwd>autonomic nervous system</kwd><kwd>adaptive capabilities</kwd></kwd-group><kwd-group xml:lang="ru"><kwd>вариабельность сердечного ритма</kwd><kwd>скандинавская ходьба</kwd><kwd>спектральный анализ</kwd><kwd>студенты медицинского университета</kwd><kwd>вегетативная нервная система</kwd><kwd>адаптационные возможности</kwd></kwd-group></article-meta></front><body></body><back><ref-list><ref id="B1"><label>1.</label><mixed-citation>Ахметвалиева, М.
