Medical institutions in a large number of countries are doing everything possible to reduce the number of infections within their walls.&lt;/em&gt;&lt;/p&gt;&#13;
&lt;p&gt;&lt;em&gt;However, there are departments where it has not yet been possible to completely prevent the development of infections, namely purulent surgery, &lt;/em&gt;&lt;em&gt;resuscitation and intensive care. There are also more vulnerable groups of the population: people with the human immunodeficiency virus (HIV), elderly people who have undergone extensive surgical interventions.&lt;/em&gt;&lt;/p&gt;&#13;
&lt;p&gt;&lt;em&gt;The most common infection is caused by Acinetobacter baumannii.&lt;/em&gt;&lt;/p&gt;&#13;
&lt;p&gt;&lt;em&gt;Acinetobacter baumannii is a gram-negative bacterium belonging to the genus Acinetobacter. Their specific name comes from the scientists who described them, Paul and Linda Bauman. These microorganisms cause infection with the highest percentage of deaths and are quite often highly resistant to antibiotics.&lt;/em&gt;&lt;/p&gt;&#13;
