The quality of life of children with obesity is sharply reduced, the possibilities of physical activity are limited, which can lead to the development of narrow-minded thinking, the formation of complexes, problems in communication and socialization. It is important to organize preventive work in a timely and competent manner in order to minimize the consequences of developed obesity. Objective. To conduct a comprehensive assessment of the population's knowledge of obesity prevention in children. Materials and methods. A questionnaire for parents was developed on the most significant aspects of obesity prevention in children. Results. An increase in the prevalence of obesity among adolescents and young children is shown. The risks of health problems due to overweight and obesity are analyzed. Among the many factors in the pathogenesis of childhood obesity, the most important is considered to be the disruption of energy balance due to the discrepancy between the energy consumed with food and the energy expended, which is especially relevant against the background of general hypokinesia and the high caloric content of modern food. Analysis of the survey data revealed general patterns and differences in parents' knowledge of a healthy lifestyle. Most parents have basic knowledge of a healthy lifestyle, however, due attention is not paid to the importance of physical activity, physical education and sports, dietary correction, and regular medical examination by specialized doctors (gastroenterologist, endocrinologist). Additional studies have shown that parents' knowledge of childhood obesity prevention can be improved through educational programs and information campaigns.&lt;/p&gt;
<kwd-group xml:lang="en"><kwd>children</kwd><kwd>parents</kwd><kwd>obesity</kwd><kwd>overweight</kwd><kwd>physical activity</kwd></kwd-group><kwd-group xml:lang="ru"><kwd>дети</kwd><kwd>родители</kwd><kwd>ожирение</kwd><kwd>избыточная масса тела</kwd><kwd>двигательная активность</kwd></kwd-group></article-meta></front><body></body><back><ref-list><ref id="B1"><label>1.</label><mixed-citation>1.
