Their biographies for modern people are an inexhaustible source of inspiration, moral support and the basis for the formation of moral guidelines. A striking example of a life lived in the name of science and for the benefit of humanity is the life of a talented, extraordinary and courageous woman - Zinaida Vissarionovna Ermolyeva. Objective. To study the biography of Z.V. Ermolyeva, with an emphasis on her scientific and practical achievements during the Great Patriotic War. Materials and methods. We analyzed biographical materials related to the life and work of Z.V. Ermolyeva. Results. Z.V. Ermolyeva is a Soviet microbiologist and epidemiologist. In 1939, she was sent to Afghanistan, where she invented a drug that was so effective against cholera, as well as diphtheria and typhoid fever, that she received the title of professor for creating this drug. In 1942, she was sent to Stalingrad to prevent a cholera epidemic, where the production of cholera bacteriophage was established, which was received by 50,000 people daily. In the same year, penicillin (crustosin VIEM) was obtained for the first time in the USSR and she actively participated in organizing its industrial production in the USSR. This saved hundreds of thousands of lives of Soviet soldiers during the Great Patriotic War. Conclusion. An innovative doctor, a major scientist, an organizer of healthcare and a teacher - this is how Zinaida Vissarionovna Ermolyeva will forever go down in the history of Russian medicine. Ermolyeva's great merit is that she not only developed diagnostic, preventive and therapeutic drugs, but also organized their industrial production. All her activities are a brilliant example of an organic combination of theory and practice. The life path of Z.V.
