It is transmitted through the bites of lice (Pediculus humanus), which become infected by feeding on the blood of an infected person.) Majewski developed a method of infecting white mice with typhus through the respiratory tract, which made it possible to obtain material for creating a vaccine.Already in 1942, its production began, which significantly reduced the incidence of typhus among the population and military personnel. The significance of Mayevsky's work: the vaccine was quickly introduced into production.This helped prevent outbreaks of typhus, reducing the incidence among the military and civilian population.The Mayevsky method became the basis for further research on rickettsia vaccines and played an important role in the epidemiological protection of the USSR. For this contribution, Mayevsky was awarded the Stalin Prize in 1943. His work in the field of microbiology and immunology played a key role in ensuring epidemiological security during the war.&lt;/p&gt;
<kwd-group xml:lang="en"><kwd>typhus</kwd><kwd>epidemic</kwd><kwd>lice</kwd><kwd>vaccine</kwd><kwd>unsanitary conditions</kwd></kwd-group><kwd-group xml:lang="ru"><kwd>сыпной тиф</kwd><kwd>эпидемия</kwd><kwd>вши</kwd><kwd>вакцина</kwd><kwd>антисанитария</kwd></kwd-group></article-meta></front><body></body><back><ref-list><ref id="B1"><label>1.</label><mixed-citation>К 75-летию со дня рождения лауреата Государственной премии Михаила Михайловича Маевского / Антибиотики // 1969.</mixed-citation></ref><ref id="B2"><label>2.</label><mixed-citation>Московская энциклопедия : [в 2 т.] / [принимали участие : И.
