The purpose of the work was to study the relevance and effectiveness of extracurricular activities on the basics of psychotherapy with students of the medical university. Materials and methods: for several months, regular extracurricular classes on the basics of psychotherapy were conducted with a group of medical students interested in teaching psychotherapy. The lesson structure included a block of theory on cognitive behavioral therapy and practical exercises. The effectiveness of the classes was assessed using a questionnaire method after completing the entire course on the basics of psychotherapy. Results: the survey data showed a high interest of students in learning psychotherapy, and revealed an improvement in the students' psychoemotional and communicative qualities upon completion of the course of study.
