It examines the history of the term "truentism," as well as the influence of medicine on the literary creativity of two world-renowned physician-writers: Anton Chekhov and Mikhail Bulgakov. It has been revealed that their medical education and practice had a significant impact on their literary activities. Medicine greatly expanded the writers' observational boundaries and enriched them with valuable knowledge in the fields of psychology and human physiology. Respect for the exact sciences became a characteristic feature of their work. The literary texts of these authors are distinguished by realism and naturalism, both in their choice of themes and in the creation of character images. Many of Chekhov's stories are dedicated to doctors: their selfless work or degradation under certain conditions; the description of the psychological state of individuals in specific life realities; and the development of certain diseases. In Bulgakov's work, we find a cycle of stories titled "Notes of a Young Doctor," which is autobiographical in nature and reveals the problems faced by a young certified specialist: fears, inexperience, ignorance of patients, and the suspicion and distrust of colleagues.
In conclusion, it is noted that precise scientific knowledge has a fruitful influence on the literary creativity of physician-writers Anton Chekhov and Mikhail Bulgakov. Their professional engagement in medicine helped the authors create their unique artistic style with accurate and profound psychological portraits of their characters.
<kwd-group xml:lang="en"><kwd>truentism</kwd><kwd>physician-writer</kwd><kwd>medical knowledge</kwd><kwd>creativity</kwd><kwd>psychological insight</kwd></kwd-group><kwd-group xml:lang="ru"><kwd>труэнтизм</kwd><kwd>врач-писатель</kwd><kwd>медицинское знание</kwd><kwd>творчество</kwd><kwd>психологизм</kwd></kwd-group></article-meta></front>

<back><ref-list><ref id="B1">1.<mixed-citation>1.
