Aim. To improve early diagnosis of abscesses associated with ENT diseases. Materials and methods: 31 cases of diseases (1 month-15 years old) with brain abscesses admitted to neurosurgical department of Voronezh Regional Childrens Clinical Hospital №2 in 2005-2024 were analyzed. The following were used to determine the criteria of correlation: anamnesis analysis, clinical and laboratory examination, CT of the sinuses. Results: 67.7% of abscesses were due to ENT pathology. Emergency surgical treatment was performed in 61.3% of children. The peak of incidence is in spring (52%) and autumn (43%). The main symptoms were headache (76%), fever (62%), increased ERS (mean 30.5 mm/h), focal neurological symptoms (57%). Conclusion: seasonality (autumn-spring), combination of ENT disease with severe headache and elevated ESR are main risk criteria for abscess. Pediatricians and otorhinolaryngologists need to be more alert during these periods for timely diagnosis and prevention of complications.
