An important factor influencing the change in heart rate (HR) when swallowing is physical fitness. Purpose of work. Evaluation of the effect of physical fitness on change in heart rate during swallowing. Materials and methods. The study involved 25 students of VSMU named after N. N. Burdenko aged 17 to 21 years. 13 participants participated in professional sports (athlete group) and 12 did not participate in sports (non-athlete group). Participants were asked to drink 100 ml of water for 15 seconds, after which heart rate was measured before, during and after swallowing. Results. The average increase in HR among athletes was 12.5%, among non-sports students - 18.2%. In athletes, the increase was less pronounced, which may be due to the high adaptation of the cardiovascular system to exercise and faster autonomic regulation. Non-athletic students had more pronounced reactions and were slower to recover. Conclusion. Physical fitness influences the cardiovascular response to the swallowing reflex. In athletes, tachycardia is less pronounced, suggesting better adjustment, while in non-athletic students, the response is more marked. This confirms the differences in autonomic regulation between trained and untrained individuals.&lt;br /&gt;Keywords: swallowing tachycardia; physical fitness; heart rate&lt;/p&gt;
</article-meta></front><body></body><back><ref-list><ref id="B1"><label>1.</label><mixed-citation>Матюкевич, М.
