Many people have a negative attitude towards such patients, because they do not know and do not understand the peculiarities of the course of this disease. Some are sure that people with ASD are not adapted to life in society, "they are of no use", therefore the state unreasonably spends so many resources on them. However, autism is multifaceted and the severity of this disease varies, so it is necessary to help such patients, adapt them, thereby improving the quality of life of both the patients themselves and the people caring for them. Given the growing prevalence of autism in the population, it is necessary to expand public awareness of this disease, this will improve detection at early stages and enable society to be more tolerant of this category of citizens. In addition, not only doctors but also nurses can participate in educational activities, since this area is part of their functional responsibilities. Objective. Studying public awareness of autism. Materials and methods. Compilation of the questionnaire, conducting the survey, analysis of the results and summarizing the information received Results. The survey showed that the population is poorly informed about ASD, which can lead to late diagnosis and delayed rehabilitation and habilitation of these patients. Conclusion. It is necessary to raise public awareness of autism, this will allow identifying the disease at an earlier stage, improving the quality and effectiveness of treatment. Healthcare workers should participate in educational work, since this is a guarantee of the reliability and quality of the information provided.
