Abstract

The role of ambulance crews in the evacuation and medical care (MH) of victims of road traffic accidents (RTAs) in the Russian Federation (RF) according to the State Automobile Inspectorate of the Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs for 2020-2022 was studied. It has been revealed that road safety (RSA) has improved significantly in the Russian Federation over the years mentioned above, the number of road accidents and the number of fatalities and injuries have decreased. This is due to the implementation of the national project "Safe Quality Roads", which aims to create a comfortable and safe environment for life, as well as to preserve the population, health and well-being of people. In the Russian Federation in 2020-2022. 60-65% of those injured in road accidents were transported to medical facilities by ambulances. The percentage of ambulance crews arriving within the first hour of an accident was 99%. The severity of injuries was found to be 9.8% if the ambulance arrived at the scene of the accident within the first hour, and increased to 19.1% if they arrived within the first two hours. The timing of the arrival of the ambulance at the crash scene has a significant impact on the severity of the consequences for the victims.

Relevance. The Russian Federation, despite the reduction in the number of accidents, lags behind many countries in the ranking of road safety, ranking 72 [1].Objective: to study the role of ambulance crews in the evacuation and medical care of victims of road accidents.
Materials and methods: we evaluated the official statistical data of the State Motor Vehicle Inspectorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia on traffic accidents in Russia in 2020-2022 as well as the data on the work of ambulance crews in evacuating and providing medical aid to the injured. Results. In the Russian Federation in 2020-2022. the number of traffic accidents decreased from 145 thousand to 126 thousand, the number of those killed in accidents was reduced from 16 thousand to 14 thousand, the number of those injured - from 183 thousand to 159 thousand. [2]. Due to the high frequency of traumatic injuries in road traffic accidents, the role of timely medical care for the injured has increased. The time of arrival of ambulance crews at the scene of a road accident affects the mortality rate among the injured. The rate of severity of accident consequences when the ambulance arrived within the first hour was 9.8%, but if the ambulance arrived within two hours, the rate of severity increased to 19.1%. When the ambulance arrived on the scene within the first twenty minutes, the severity of outcome was 8.5% [3].
Conclusions. In the Russian Federation in 2020-2022 road safety has significantly improved, the number of accidents has been reduced and the number of fatalities and injuries has fallen. It is revealed that a reduction in the severity of the consequences of injuries in victims of road accidents is achieved by the early arrival of the ambulance crews at the scene of the accident. The lowest rate of severity of the consequences of a road traffic accident for the victims, 8.5%, is achieved within the first twenty minutes of the arrival of the ambulance crew.
