Abstract
Alcoholism is a global problem of modern society. Currently, the number of drivers who drink alcohol is growing, which can lead to an increase in the number of accidents [1]. The aim of the study was to analyze the statistics of traffic accidents for reasons related to alcohol intoxication and to assess the nature of dynamic indicators. In this regard, the official data of the traffic police of Russia for 2018-2022 in the Tver region were studied in three categories: traffic accidents with drivers in a state of intoxication; road accidents with drivers with signs of intoxication; Road accidents with drivers who refused medical examination [2]. The obtained indicators were analyzed and mathematically processed, the absolute numbers were converted into relative ones, graphs were drawn showing the dynamics of the accident. Thus, during the study, it was revealed that the problem of drunk driving for the Tver region is still relevant and acutely social, but compared to previous years, it can be seen that the number of accidents has significantly decreased in almost all indicators. This indicates that the applied punitive and preventive measures are effective, and we should continue to develop this area of public activity.

Relevance: Currently, accidents continue to occur due to the fault of drivers in a state of intoxication. Despite the decrease in the number of such accidents, the problem still remains unresolved.
The purpose of the study: to study the dynamics of traffic accidents associated with alcohol intoxication in the Tver region according to official data from the traffic police of Russia over the past 5 years.
Materials and Methods: Statistical methods were used. The statistical data of the traffic police of Russia on the number of accidents committed for 2018-2022 were analyzed.
Results: in the course of a study of the traffic police data of Russia for the period from 2018 to 2022, a decrease in the number of accidents in three categories was revealed: 1) accidents with drivers in a state of intoxication; 2) accidents with drivers with signs of intoxication; 30 road accidents with drivers who refused medical examination.
In the Tver region for the given period in the 1st category, the number of accidents changed from 252 to 171, the number of deaths from 68 to 45 people, injured from 326 to 215. In category 2: the number of accidents from 312 to 202, the number of deaths from 69 to 48, injured from 407 to 253. In category 3: the number of accidents from 60 to 31, the number of deaths from 1 to 3, the number of injured from 81 to 38.
So, there was a decrease in indicators in all points, except for the number of deaths in category 3. Also, the number of accidents in category 2, compared with the number of accidents in category 1, is consistently higher, by an average of 18.44%. Although the number of deaths in these two categories varies by only 3.34% on average.
Conclusions: when analyzing the data, it was found that the problem of drunk driving remains a significant cause of road accidents. However, the measures taken have led to a decrease in the number of accidents associated with alcohol intoxication over the past five years in the Tver region by 35.3%, which is equal to 404 recorded cases.
