Abstract

The article tells about a prominent scientist in the field of medicine, a doctor with a capital letter, an outstanding public figure, Natalia Konstantinovna Georgiou. She was devoted to her profession and devoted herself and her knowledge entirely to the development of medicine and helping people. In wartime and peacetime, N.K. Georgiou lived and worked to save people's lives. Methods of medical diagnostics and treatment of surgical diseases, developed by Professor N. K. Georgiou, entered the world of pediatric surgery.

At all times, the contribution of scientists to science has been incommensurable. In every country there were people who sought to discover something new, to improve past achievements. Achievements in the field of medicine and healthcare are especially important. Natalia Konstantinovna Georgiu (1914 – 2001) was a Moldovan and Soviet pediatric surgeon, doctor, professor, Doctor of Medical Sciences, who created her own direction in medicine and saved thousands of lives. She was born in Bendery, graduated from the Medical Faculty of the University of Bucharest (1940) and began her career in pediatric surgery in Chisinau. She began to be called the initiator of pediatric surgery in Moldova, since before that in the MSSR adults and children were treated together. During the Great Patriotic War, she was a surgeon in military field hospitals. In 1957, she began to specialize in child surgery. In 1960, the Department of Pediatric Surgery was established and Georgiu was appointed head of the department.
