Relevance. In 2008, on the basis of VSMU. N.N. Burdenko Museum of Space Biology and Medicine. V.V. Antipov, which presents unique expositions related to the study of space. It conducts excursions for students and schoolchildren of the city and region; its expositions take part in city exhibitions. In addition, the Center for Space Education was established in June 2014. As part of the work of the center, numerous projects are being implemented, such as the development of educational activities in the field of astronautics and the upbringing of a patriotic generation of young people. Students and teachers conduct research on space topics. This is one of the promising areas of research activities of the Voronezh State Medical University. N.N. Burdenko.
Target. Using the materials of the library fund, get acquainted with the history of the creation of the museum, study its role in the development of the student as a person.
Materials and methods. The work used the general scientific method of research and the literature of the electronic fund.
Results. The special significance of the museum in the educational process and the formation of student competencies is emphasized.
Conclusion. A visit to a museum is an important component in preparing medical students for their future careers.

The relevance of the work is determined by the need to analyze the transformation of the socio-cultural activities of the university museum as a research, educational and leisure organization. Museum of Space Biology and Medicine named after V.V. Antipov was opened in 2008 and contains information about the contribution of scientists from the

Voronezh Medical University to developments aimed at preserving human health in space. The museum has become a creative laboratory, where a huge scientific and practical material is accumulated and studied, and medical knowledge is popularized [1].


On the basis of the documents of the electronic library fund on the history of the museum, the study of exposition material to determine its role in the educational process of students of VSMU named after N. N. Burdenko.


The use of methods of abstraction, synthesis, induction, deduction and analogy made it possible to review and analyze the documents of electronic library collections. The study of exposition material was carried out during a visit to the museum. The analysis of the information obtained during the study was carried out under the supervision of the supervisor. The main outcome of the study is an assessment of the relevance and significance of the museum and all its expositions in the educational process of students.


When organizing the educational process of students, the methods of museum pedagogy are widely used. This is an area of scientific and practical activity of a modern museum, which is focused on the transfer of cultural experience through the pedagogical and educational process in a certain environment. With the help of the educational resources of the museum, students can be involved in various activities: in the process of studying new material, perform creative tasks; when working with museum collections to reflect and solve cognitive problems.
Museums of universities represent a special category. In the world of medical museums, a special place is occupied by the Museum of Space Biology and Medicine. V.V. Antipov, located on the basis of VSMU named after N.N. Burdenko. This is due primarily to the history of its occurrence and the collection of exhibits presented. The only museum in the world was opened at VSMA in 2008 on the initiative of a university graduate, one of the founders of space radiobiology, Professor V.V. Antipov [2]. The words of Anton Pavlovich Chekhov, expressed by him at the end of the 19th century: “Ascetics are needed like the sun. Their personalities are living documents indicating to society that there are still people of heroism, faith and a clearly conscious goal, ”can rightly be attributed to Vsevolod Vasilyevich Antipov.
Antipov was born in Voronezh on October 23, 1923. From 1941 to 1945 he participated in military battles. After demobilization in 1946, he realized his dream by entering the Voronezh Medical Institute. Vsevolod Vasilyevich studied enthusiastically and successfully, and was engaged in social work. Already in his student years, he began to conduct scientific work. Under the direction of D. A. Biryukov, he conducted medical research at the Department of Normal Physiology. After defending his Ph.D. thesis in 1955, he worked at the Institute of Aviation and Space Medicine, then for quite a long time at the Institute of Biomedical Problems, where he dealt with space issues [3]. Outstanding was the discovery in 1988, together with professors N. L. Delaunay and G. P. Parfenov, “Phenomena of mitosis in plant cells under weightless conditions.”
interact with VGMI on participation in the field of cosmobiological research for many years, since 1965. Employees of various departments studied the influence of atmospheric overload, weightlessness, electric and magnetic fields, hyperthermia, hyperoxia, and other factors on biological objects (mice, dogs, monkeys) [4]. All the achievements obtained were subsequently used in the preparation of man for space flight.
In some studies, employees of our university were directly involved in: 1) 30-day space flight of the BION-M biosatellite No. 1; 2) experiments with C-57 black mice and Mongolian gerbils; 3) the “Woodworm” experiment, in which senior students were involved [5, 6]. Since 2007, VSMU has been a member of the Federation of Cosmonautics of the Russian Federation in gratitude for the work carried out.
For the museum, the collection of originals is a priority. There is the main thing here - a real story, acquaintance with which fascinates every visitor. The educational activities of the Museum reflect the contribution of VSMU employees to research aimed at preserving human health in space. It also has a large number of space exhibits provided for study by medical students of all courses. The exposition material includes personal belongings and the Antipov memorial complex; various containers for storing biomaterial; some medical devices for assessing the health status of astronauts; wetsuits of various years of the twentieth century. Here you can get acquainted with the original pilot-cosmonaut simulators, special equipment for maintaining the normal life of people on board spacecraft, their nutrition, etc. This allows us to delve deeper into the study of the behavior of body structures in space, better understand the complexities of the work of scientists at space stations, pilots, and think through possible ways to solve pressing problems. In addition, throughout the academic year, the employees of the museum complex carry out an educational excursion program for students and schoolchildren of the city and region, as well as guests of the university.
Thanks to the activities of the museum, a section of space biology and medicine was formed within the framework of the annual International Burdenkov Conference of SSS, where students from different courses present their scientific achievements [7]. Much attention in these studies is paid to the biological aspects of human physiology and its change in outer space. The problems of pathologies that are inevitably formed in crew members during spacewalks are discussed.


The specialization of the museum makes it possible to form certain professional and ethical standards for future doctors. Thus, it can be determined that it is important for enriching the spiritual world of students and schoolchildren.


The museum performs the functions of a kind of conductor of medical and biographical knowledge [8]. Thus, an important goal is achieved - maintaining continuity with the past, as well as forming links with the future, which is actively used in the process of educational work.
