Abstract
Relevance. The Voronezh Region is a region with a natural iodine deficiency. Every year, the indicators of primary and general morbidity of thyroid pathology remain at a high level. Therefore, the study of the quality of life in patients with thyroid pathology with different hormonal profiles is relevant.
The aim is to study the features of the hormonal profile and psychological status of patients with thyroid diseases in the region with mild iodine deficiency and assess their quality of life.
Materials and methods. A survey of patients and students of the medical University was conducted using the SF-36 questionnaire. To assess the quality of life, the data of patients with thyroid diseases having different hormonal profiles were compared with a group of healthy patients without thyroid pathology. We performed a comparative analysis of the quality of life of students and healthy patients. Methods of statistical processing, the Microsoft Excel program and Statistica 6 were used.
Results.
Based on the results obtained, it was found that in patients with nodes in the thyroid gland, the normal hormonal background provides a higher level of both physical and psychological components of health compared with patients with hypothyroidism. Patients with nodular formations in the thyroid gland with its normal function, who do not require surgical treatment, as well as healthy patients, have similar indicators of physical, vital, social activity and mental health. Patients with autoimmune thyroiditis with reduced thyroid function, compared with patients with normal function, note a restriction of physical activity, daily activities, the presence of pronounced pain, a low assessment of health status, decreased vital activity and the presence of psychological distress. The absence of thyroid pathology and its normal hormonal background determine high quality of life indicators.
Conclusion.
The conducted study on the quality of life showed its decrease in comparison with practically healthy individuals, both in patients with normal thyroid function and in patients with hypothyroidism. With a decrease in thyroid function, the quality of life suffers on six of the eight analyzed scales, while affecting the physical component of health to a greater extent than the psychological component of health. In healthy people, the quality of life is affected by age.

Relevance The Voronezh region is a region with a natural iodine deficiency [1, 2]. Every year the indicators of primary and general morbidity of thyroid pathology remain at a high level [3]. During the period from 2017 to 2019, an increase in the incidence of subclinical hypothyroidism due to iodine deficiency was registered by 55.6%, thyroiditis - by 17.7%, thyrotoxicosis - by 0.6% [1]. The quality of life is an important criterion for assessing the state of health [4, 5]. Therefore, the study of the quality of life in patients with thyroid pathology with different hormonal profiles is relevant. MATERIALS AND METHODS The study was carried out on the basis of the Voronezh Regional Clinical Hospital No. 1 in the regional polyclinic and in the Voronezh State Medical University named after N.N. Burdenko of the Ministry of Health of the Russian Federation (Burdenko State Medical University). A questionnaire was conducted using the SF-36 questionnaire among 54 patients of the VOKB No. 1 and 42 students of VSMU. All respondents were divided into 4 groups: group 1 – 18 patients with multi–nodular and nodular non-toxic goiter (MUZ/UZ) who were monitored in a polyclinic with benign nodular formations in the thyroid gland that do not require surgical treatment; group 2 – 15 patients with autoimmune thyroiditis with subclinical or manifest hypothyroidism (AIT) who received replacement therapy at the outpatient level; group 3 - 21 patients (healthy) without thyroid diseases and severe somatic pathology; Group 4 – 42 students of the medical faculty of the 2nd year of the N.N. Burdenko VSMU. The age of respondents in groups 1, 2 and 3 ranged from 23 to 54 years (average age - 47.8 years), 4 groups - from 18 to 22 years (average age - 20.1 years). To make a diagnosis in patients of groups 1, 2, 3, the clinical picture of the disease was studied; the level of thyroid-stimulating hormone (TSH), thyroxine free, triiodothyronine free, antibodies to thyroid peroxidase, calcitonin in the blood was studied; the results of ultrasound examination of the thyroid gland and neck lymph nodes were evaluated; with nodes in the thyroid gland, a puncture biopsy under ultrasound control was recommended. Patients of groups 1 and 3 were comparable by sex (22 = 0.176; p = 0.531) and age (T = 768; p = 0.49), patients of groups 2 and 3, groups 1 and 2 were also comparable by sex (χ2 = 0.351; p = 0.651), (χ2 = 0.258; p = 0.431) and age (T = 576; p = 0.089), (T =
