Preventive dentistry - is technique used by a dentist to maintain the health of teeth and gums. The main goal of preventive dentistry is the prevention of diseases. The treatment of existing diseases should be carried out at an early stage to avoid their development.[2] Preventive dentistry includes the following methods: hygienic cleaning, dental examination, sealing of fissures, early diagnosis, good hygiene, balanced diet.[3] Preventive dentistry can help you to maintain healthy teeth and a beautiful smile for a long time. In addition, it is much cheaper than a complex treatment of a root canal or dental implantation. To determine the role of preventive dentistry we have carried out the research among the students of our University. 280 students participated in it. During our study, it was found that the majority of respondents (70%) think that preventive dentistry is the necessary practice to maintain oral hygiene. However, only half of them (55%) visited a dentist 2-3 times a year. At the same time, many of the respondents use a toothbrush and do not use a rinse and flossing, only 1 person out of all of the respondents uses an electric brush.More than 75% agree that proper nutrition and diet is an effective way to maintain oral health. Only 56% of people understand the efficiency of fluorinated toothpaste. It should be noted that about 68% of the respondents appealed to the dentist for a professional cleaning. As a result of this work, we have prepared some recommendations for the prevention of diseases: First of all,it’s important to find the right dental toothbrush. It plays a major role in dental care and disease prevention. In today’s market there are a lot of brushes of various shapes, colors and functions. How to choose from this diversity?Brushes recommended by health authorities, are made of high quality material. An ideal variant is the toothbrush, wherein the bristles positioned in series and three different lengths. This contributes to easy cleaning crevices between teeth and massage the gums. Bristles can be serrated to make it easier to slide between the teeth. Usually, dentists recommend using a toothbrush with bristles of medium hardness.Another kind of toothbrushes are electric brushes when vibrating and circular movements are performed automatically, which is useful for children and people with disabilities. It is important to keep your toothbrush right and change it in time. Brush must be perfectly cleaned and stored so that it can dry well, because bacteria grow very quickly. Experts recommend to change the toothbrush after at least two months. It would also be necessary to replace it after each infection.Another thing is that brushing should be done in a proper way.The main rule - teeth it should last at least 3 minutes. However, do not rub too hard, as this may damage the enamel. Try to act carefully in order to cover all the cracks and fissures. The most effective way to maintain good oral hygiene is brushing your teeth after every meal. If this is impossible, you should at least rinse the mouth after eating twice a day (after breakfast and after dinner). It is better to use special rinses with a composition of antibacterial agents. You can also chew gum containing xylitol. Experts confirm that the gum is able to remove from the teeth plaque and food debris. No doubt, it`s necessary to choose an effective toothpaste. As you know, efficiency of cleaning can be improved by using toothpastes and tooth powders. Modern toothpastes contain all the necessary components and substances, the effectiveness of which is clinically proven. There are potent paste, disinfectant, refreshing breath and protect against tartar. These include so-called abrasive materials to help remove plaque (for example, calcium carbonate, silicates), and blowing agents, to remove debris from inaccessible areas. All toothpastes also contain fluoride (for example, sodium fluoride, calcium fluoride). The market offers a variety of pastes with different flavors and compositions. Preventive toothpaste containing fluoride - the most popular. They speed up the process of incorporating calcium from saliva in enamel.Whitening toothpastes can remove stains on the teeth, which appear due to the use of coffee, tea, medicines that contain iron. Pigments are also in cigarette smoke. They often cause the appearance of yellow spots on the teeth. At last an auxiliary oral hygiene is also valuable.Dental floss or dental floss are auxiliary mechanical oral hygiene and are designed to clean interdental spaces.Another complementary and well-established mean of oral hygiene is a toothpick. Like dental floss, toothpicks remove food debris from interdental spaces and plaque from the lateral surfaces of the teeth. The use of toothpicks is more efficient if there are gaps between the teeth.Mouthwash is also an auxiliary hygiene mean for freshening the mouth during morning and evening cleaning the teeth, as well as after a meal. It has antiseptic, anti-inflammatory, bactericidal effect. It may be recommended for diseases of periodontal and oral mucosa.[1]×
