Belenova I.A., Smirnova T.A.

Abstract

The current situation in the sphere of higher education in general and medical education in particular can be considered as a crisis. Because of the commercialization educational institutions lose the autonomy. Nowadays medical institutions are not only scientific organizations. Students of medical universities treat patients cynically. One of the causes of the crisis is the lack of education on social and human issues. In the 19th century N.I. Pirogov notices the need of the synthesis of education and upbringing. The way to overcome the crisis is a humanistic model of education that proved its effectiveness in the 15th century. It is called "studia humanitatis" and it includes science and human issues as well. An upbringing and formation of attitudes and values is also very important.

Shchavelev S.P.

Abstract

In the scientific and especially educational synopsises of the history of medicine there is exaggeration of historical and cultural significance of the so-called folk or traditional medicine. They concentrate attention upon its separate rational elements that have been taken from scientific medicine and medical technologies. In fact, in terms of modern civilization a small part of medical practices of different peoples of the world was proved itself. These are the field of herbal medicine, physiotherapy (steam bath, etc.), the manual methods. All other ways of folk healing are palliative at best, and the medical occult of primitive sense at worst. This point of view is confirmed by the objective of anthropologists and archaeologists about diseases and life expectancy of people of Stone Age and Early Metal and by ethnologic information about the degree of infection of all archaic societies of the Earth without exception.

MEDICAL CINEMA OF THE LATE USSR

Kuznetsov D.P.

Abstract

The article deals with the phenomenon of a sharp rise in the number of Soviet films on medical subjects in the 60's early 80's. of the last century. The author attributes this phenomenon to the growing number of doctors in the structure of employment. However, the structure of the films allows also to consider the medical film of that time as a special way to the legitimation of medical activity in which there was major "ideological" change: replacing the medicine which was rigidly connected with the command of the state by medicine of private human space. The image of the human health as a resource of state was gradually replaced by way of health as a result of personal effort.
