Skorohodov A.P., Hahanova O.N.

Abstract

We examined 179 patients with acute cardioembolic stroke. The severity of neurological deficit was evaluated with the scale NIHSS and Rivermid. Diabetes and myocardial infarction in patients with cardioembolic stroke are the most unfavorable risk factors of death. In patients with atrial fibrillation defeat in the pool of the left middle cerebral artery was noted more frequently than in other basins. Average NIHSS score and scale Rivermid confirming the severity of neurological deficits, with different combinations of risk factors at the time of admission to hospital in patients who died was significantly higher than that of the discharged patients. Degree of neurological deficit at the time of admission was growing in proportion to the size of the infarct, which further influenced the outcome. Cardioembolic stroke with a larger focus of ischemia were significantly more often than with small and medium sized hearth cerebral ischemia. Psychosocial factors through a mechanism of acute and chronic distress may increase the risk of stroke, directly causing pathophysiological changes in the cardiovascular system. In addition, psychosocial factors may contribute to increased mortality rates from stroke through risk factors such as low physical activity, disorders of fat metabolism, tobacco, alcohol abuse, and generally unhealthy lifestyle.
